Today started a little gray and cloudy. Perfect day to brighten up someone’s day!
Hopefully my smiles do just that for the people I cross path with but what about the people I miss or the ones that are not quite ready to receive a smile from a stranger. How can I reach them? How can I make their day better? With that in mind, I decided to join the Random Acts of Kindness Movement.
If you google Random Acts of Kindness, you will get over a million results – everything from ideas on what to do to whole communities cheering each other on as they create a better world. One story that particularly hit home for me is this one, about a local man whose random act of kindness from over 50 years ago came full circle and inspired a lifetime of giving back. It truly takes only one person to start the ripple effect, one person’s random act of kindness whether it is a note on a car, paying for the next person’s coffee or just a smile.
Today, I started with a note on a few people’s cars wishing them a great day. Nothing too fancy or costly but hopefully that simple note did brighten up their day and hopefully it will get passed on and on and on.
So friends, will you join the movement? What’s your random act of kindness going to be?
