5 Smiles: June 4

Lists, lists, lists. I never get to seem to get away from them. What can I say? I’m a planner. Even today on my day off, I couldn’t resist the urge. Bike ride, clean house, laundry, blog… It’s just such a nice feeling when you check them off!Last summer, I had a grand idea. I would write a list of all the things I wanted to do during the summer to make sure I make the most of it! Truly enjoy everything it has to offer! I love summer but lately it seems like before I know it, it’s gone. And so, I got to it – bike all the way to Steveston for Timothy’s frozen yoghurt, make jam, have an impromptu picnic, spend a relaxing day at the beach reading. In the end, I was so busy trying to plan the perfect summer, I barely did any of it. This year, I’ve decided to take a different approach. Screw the planning! I’m taking it as it comes! After all, isn’t that what my smile project is about? Enjoy the little moment. Live in the present.

I’m glad to say that we’re off to a good start! I may not have made jam but I’ve done lots of hiking, had my first Timothy’s frozen yogurt of the season and have just be plain enjoying myself! It’s not even June 21 yet!

We will always have those lists (or at least I will) but don’t forget to set them aside sometimes and just smile. Have a great summer everyone!
